With a roar that shook the air, the ship surged up, water streaming from its deck and hull. When everything settled, it was still and quiet as death. One hand on the wheel, Will looked around, nodded. Time to get to work.

First order of business...

"Mr. Turner!"

"Cap'n?"

"Take the wheel."

"Aye, aye, Cap'n."

With his father's hands on the wheel, Will started down the steps. He paused, half-turned. "Make our bearing thirty degrees to port," he said, quiet, eyes flicking to the horizon. There was one soul he planned on claiming before all others. "I'll be below."

"Aye," Bootstrap murmured, giving a brisk nod.

When one of the men came for him, it felt like hours had passed. Time, however, was deceptive here, as Will well knew. When he returned to the deck, the sky was black. Standing at the railing, the faint wind stirring his hair against his throat and tugging at his shirt over the scar crossing his breast, Will let his eyes roam over the multitude of lights bobbing in the water around them.

Each was a soul Davy Jones had let languish here when he forsook his promise to Calypso.

Never again.

One beacon drew his eye, and Will nodded. He called for a slight change in course, waited as the Dutchman pulled up beside the small dinghy. The person inside looked up when Will dropped the ladder.

Holding out his hand to grasp the other man's wrist, Will smiled. "Come aboard, James. It's time to take you home."
